EUROMOD Annual Meeting - 2020

The meeting saw the participation of colleagues from the JRC, ESTAT and University of Essex (UoE), representatives from the partner DGs (EMPL, ECFIN, TAXUD, REFORM) and members of the EUROMOD National Teams (NTs).

The meeting highlighted that the EUROMOD transfer is progressing well toward its end. Key to this success has been the excellent collaboration between the JRC, ESTAT and the University of Essex.

The meeting reviewed the 2020 activities and also discussed in detail the 2020 policy implementation work. It also discussed the EUROMOD Scientific Advisory Board.

The annual meeting ended with four presentations.

  • Sofia Maier and Mattia Ricci (JRC) presented the new Indirect Tax Tool (ITT), developed by KU Leuven, Praxis and the University of Essex in collaboration with the JRC.
  • Aura Leulescu and Cristina Lopez Vilaplana (ESTAT) described the role of EUROMOD in the production of the Flash Estimates, with a special focus on the ongoing developments for the year 2020.
  • Ivica Urban (Institute of Public Finance, Croatia) presented a promising development of EUROMOD toward a monthly assessment of tax liabilities and benefit entitlements.
  • Chrysa Leventi (Ministry of Finance, Greece) gave a presentation on the technical steps needed to simulate labour market transitions in Greece using the enhanced LMA AddOn.
