SOUTHMOD Country Report: ETMOD v2.3, 2014–20

Abstract

This report documents ETMOD, the SOUTHMOD model developed for Ethiopia. Since 2020 the Ethiopian national team is based at the University of Insubria (Italy). It includes Adnan A. Shahir and Francesco Figari, responsible for the 2022 update of the model and this report.

The results presented here are derived using ETMOD version 2.3 running on EUROMOD software. The report describes the different tax–benefit policies in place, how the microsimulation model picks up these different provisions, and the database on which the model runs. It concludes with a validation of ETMOD results against external data sources. For further information on access to ETMOD, see the model page.

The ETMOD model and its documentation in this country report has been prepared within the UNU-WIDER project ‘SOUTHMOD—simulating tax and benefit policies for development’. For more information, see the SOUTHMOD project page.
