Linkability of EUROMOD with other software

EUROMOD is becoming increasingly relevant as a research/analysis tool. In order to further facilitate its use in your projects and possibly to expand its reach to other research fields, we are currently looking into ways of improving its integration with other software, such as Stata, R, Matlab or Python.

Currently it is already possible to run EUROMOD from the command line, but we realise this is not always so straightforward. We therefore plan to develop plugins/libraries that simplify specific tasks such as:

• Calling EUROMOD in estimation routines, such that one can easily compute counterfactual scenarios. One would no longer have to do this from the command line, but would be able to do it by using e.g. a dedicated Stata program.
• Easily changing tax parameters of systems to create and run reforms. This could be handy for example if one would like to use EUROMOD in a program that tries to solve for an optimal policy.
• Letting EUROMOD run on data that is already loaded into the working memory by the respective software. This means that there would be no need to write the data to the input folder of EUROMOD, but that one could for example run it directly on their Stata dataset.
