The course will be held on 21, 22 and 23 May 2025 in hybrid format: at the premises of JRC-Seville (application period closed) and online (no application needed - links can be found below, in each of the days).
It will include the following sessions:
- Microsimulation models and introduction to EUROMOD; EUROMOD language; Handling errors
- Variable types; Defining tax units, constants and income lists
- Simulation of consumption taxes in EUROMOD
- Functions Elig, ArithOp & Allocate
- Functions BenCalc & SchedCalc
- Function DefOutput; Uprating indices; EUROMOD Connectors
The course is targeted to new and potential users of EUROMOD. It does not assume any previous knowledge of the model, but a background in the use of microdata and distributional analysis will help to make the most of it. It combines lectures with live demonstrations of the model. Participants will also have the opportunity to carry out a number of hands-on exercises to test and refine their understanding of the model.
Getting ready for the training
- You will need to install the most recent version of the EUROMOD software, available here. Users of the European Commission internal network can install EUROMOD installer v3.7.6 directly from the EC store (a brief guide describing the process here).
- Additionally, we will use the EUROMOD model, a set of xml files that has to be copied to your computer. In particular, we will use model I6.0++, a specific version created for training purposes. You can download it here. For session 3 (simulation of consumption taxes) we will be using model J0.1+, which can be downloaded here.
- Follow the instructions here to install software and model.
- Download the training material that will be used in the course.
