The EUROMOD Annual Meeting and Research Workshop took place on 20-22 September 2023 in Seville, organised by the EUROMOD team at JRC. The events gathered around 100 participants, including JRC staff, representatives from partner DGs, members of the EUROMOD National Teams and several invited experts.

The goal of the Annual Meeting is to reflect on EUROMOD’s latest developments, plan the coming work and exchange views on the future improvements of the model. The sessions of the Meeting gave an overview of the multifaceted work carried out in 2023, highlighted the uses of EUROMOD for EU-wide initiatives and country-specific analyses, presented recent and planned software updates, developments of the core model and its extended functionalities such as the EUROMOD Indirect Tax Tool, and improvements with respect to the model’s underlying data. The Annual Meeting ended with presentations of EUROMOD-related research carried out by National Teams and the JRC.

The Research Workshop gathered academic and institutional EUROMOD users, to share mainly their model-based work and get feedback from the EUROMOD community. The presentations were grouped in four thematic clusters, covering topical issues such as labour supply, health, the green transition and the impact of inflation on households. Additionally, Egbert Jongen (CPB and Leiden University) gave a keynote speech on ‘Using microsimulation to study optimal income taxation’.

Overall, a successful event that allowed most of the EUROMOD community to gather in person at EUROMOD’s headquarters in Seville - congratulations to everyone who made it possible!
